On Transient Art

by Stelios Tigas email

Never before has man felt so fulfilled and empty at the same time, lost in a sea of digitised matter full of knowledge, creativity and contrast, where everything seems to have already been documented, sung, carved or written a long time ago before we even thought about it.

Original artistic concepts are hard to devise anymore but this can only mean that it’s time to change our perspective, accept and announce the death of Art and Creativity as we know it.

In our Brave new World, traditional, or ‘Static’ Art is not welcome anymore. We do not need a universally accepted model of beauty, a music pattern that will hook the masses or anything that is designed and will attempt to survive out of context….

We need, and will create flexible and focused art that only makes sense when applied to our own personal circumstances. We are moving towards a fragmented model of appreciating life, where the extreme & bizarre subcultures will survive over the easy to digest, prefabricated lack of culture that is the mainstream.

The mainstream will rot before our very eyes and we will dance over its corpse for a thousand nights, drinking beer, and listening to Hellnation, Gore Beyond Necropsy and Goatsblood.

Our art will be frail like our existence, crafted with love, yet destined to be forgotten with the first ray of light...Our art will not be bought or sold, it will be indecipherable out of its context, it will alienate and confuse. It will not be carved in stone, paper or CD but will be typed, spoken, communicated silently and destroyed without remorse when we run out of space.

Our art will burn like a furnace, collapse like a locust star, and die at birth; but it might make a difference in the hearts of those who know what we are about, and that’s all we ever wanted to accomplish.
